This is a mind reshaping explanation for why it may not, in fact, all be inside your head so to speak. More and more scientific research is coming to light which contradicts the conventional mechanical model of human existence. Brave visionaries are challenging what we think we know about ourselves and showing evidence of a mind more capable than anything we had previously supposed.
The extended mind theory proposed by scientist and author Rupert Sheldrake, presents that the traditional model of science which expresses humans as merely mechanical creatures, all actions, and habits adopted from proteins encoded genetically, nothing more; is incomplete. There is perhaps a more fluid and expansive explanation for the various anomalous phenomena such as the ability to know when someone is looking at you, certain psi phenomena, telepathy, even basic experiences in everyday life, as well as quantifiable incongruities observed in controlled settings. When research was done in depth into the genetics of humans during the human genome project, it was quite a shock to find genetics only described about 5% of our traits, habits, tendency’s and aptitudes. Moreso, scientists expected to find somewhere around 100,000 genes in humans, and were surprised to only identify 20,000, less than a sea urchin or a rice plant. Where are we getting our information from if not our genes?
Geneticists hedged bets on the ability of genetics to predict the height of humans based on the height of their parents, this was a huge leap from the ancient method of using tape measures which had an 80% success rate of predicting height of a child born based on the height of the parents (taller parents would tend to have taller offspring). What they found after looking at the genes, gathering that data, inputting it into the computer and making a prediction, was that success rate dropped by 75% down to 5%. What this means is that there is more to humanity than meets the eye. There is something ineffable beyond mere pragmatic genealogical mechanisms of proteins.
The conventional model of science addresses our entire perception of the world, every experience of life, whether enriching, or dull, to all be effectually; in our head. This means as light comes in through your retinas, it is processed internally, and never leaves the parameters of your skull as you experience it. The screen you are seeing, is inside your mind, so are all the people you meet, and the stars in the sky. Sheldrake presents another scenario in which your experience is not in your mind, but rather that we are in fact expanding our consciousness out to touch those things we experience. That the things we perceive are in fact beyond our bodies, not locked up in the confinement of the neurological brain. We are both receiving light, and projecting it. So as we experience looking out into the night sky, at the vastness of infinity, we are seeing the truth, it is infinite, and we are projecting our consciousness out to meet it.
It was long understood in the advanced ancient world of the Egyptians that we have an ability to project consciousness. This has been shown in hundreds of studies across the world through a simple study, testing whether people can tell if someone is looking at them. It has been revealed to a statistically significant degree, that people can tell if someone is looking at them. We FEEL it. What is it we are feeling if the mind is in fact inside the head?

SUPER-CONSCIOUSNESS
Consciousness, the part of us that extends beyond the framework of the physical mind. It has been said that looking inside the mind for consciousness is like looking inside a radio for the announcer. We are not only receivers of consciousness, we are also generators of it.
As we expand our awareness, we expand our consciousness, and the information, experiences, and layers of reality available to us. There are many subtle layers of reality beyond the ones accessed in the problem solving state of consciousness we are so often beckoned to remain in. This state of consciousness is valuable because it allows us to respond, and to handle life’s daily practicalities; brushing our teeth, driving, going to work etc. However this is far from the only level of meaningful and necessary consciousness. Our society has not embraced something which was essential for many thousands of years of recorded history; the sacred experiences and higher understandings which are accessed through transcending the problem solving pragmatic level of mechanical consciousness. This brings us into the realm of the spiritual, the level of awareness which nurtures the very essence and spirit of humanity.
For an incredible presentation on this please take a look at Graham Hancocks lecture from the banned Ted Talk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-eWgXfR3Uw
There are many higher states of awareness achieved in meditation, through pranayama breathing (meaning an “extension of the life force” in Sanskrit), through various spiritual yoga methods, or through sacred shamanic plants such as ayahuasca (this will be explored more deeply in my next article “The Holy Moment”); each of these paths introduces access to the higher dimensional consciousness, and an awareness of the energetic, spiritual, and ethereal realities. These higher states of consciousness can allow people to heal deeply, to address subconscious issues, to learn more intuitively, and to have a direct experience with the divine universal. Most each person who has experienced this accessible level of existence, comes back with the same message; one of love, one of healing, and one of connection.
Morphic resonance is a revolutionary concept which I believe will reshape the current mechanical and strict law based systems written to explain life. There have always been un-reconciled anomalies in the current model based on fixed laws, and the assumption that these are unchangeable constants.
Morphic resonance essentially describes that the mechanism of human nature, and all organic life and growth, is not defined by any fixed law (as in dropping an apple which will fall to the ground as if it is obeying some cold defined system), but rather through drawing on a the collective consciousness (the morphic resonance) of that species. This model expresses something much more fluid and accounts for the subtle energetic and even intuitive connection species are shown to inextricably have to others of their species, leaning more towards mutable habit then fixed laws.
Much like the 100 monkey theory explained in my book (Universal Hidden Insight) a peculiar phenomenon has been noted but underexplored through the institutions of science. A group of rats may for instance be taught to navigate a maze in Los Angeles, and somehow this knowledge is almost telepathically sent out to all the rats of that species, it is found that rats across the world are able to more easily navigate the maze, and draw on the collective morphic resonance of their species. Once something, whether an idea, an action, becomes manifested it seems to be accessible to be drawn from some unknown collective informational system which we can each download into, like an invisible telepathic internet.
This is not as far-fetched as it seems, as this has been discovered in the groundbreaking field of quantum physics, to occur on quantum levels between the smallest elements which make up all matter. A more detailed explanation of this, as well as the meaning behind it is discussed in my book. Essentially quantum elements behave very strangely, not at all in the way scientists expected them to. They come into and out of existence, and can even appear in more than one place at one time. They also display a phenomenon known as entanglement which means two particles which have interacted can affect one another over large distances, when one changes spin for instance, the other may change with it, instantaneously, faster than light could even travel between them. The current model does not have much to explain this, however perhaps the theory of morphic resonance does, as it allows for the resonance of objects, whether animate or inanimate to be accessed and affect one another.
With the convention challenging innovative minds of scientists, researchers and speakers such as Graham Hancock and Rupert Sheldrake we are given a true gift to allow for greater understandings of existence and reality. Challenging the dogma of convention is essential to developing a critical thinking intellect and even to cultivate ourselves as spiritual beings. Much of the universe is not set in stone, everything is moving and changing, evolving and shifting, and we ourselves are no exception.
