How we speak about, and to, one another greatly impacts our relationships. Love is not exactly what they showed us through Disney or Love movies. Those depictions have left us trapped in a unhealthy attachments and power struggles. These romanticized false templates for love have created deficiency in our self-identity and self-worth and a tendency for co-dependent relationships. Here, I would like to provide some tools in re-writing this language, to help you set yourself free. It begins in how we speak.
Full post here: What do you think Love should sound like when we speak to one another? Very few of us have ever heard true expressions of Love. Instead most of us have only heard romanticized confessions of possession "I'm yours forever", attachment "I'll never let you go", manipulation "I could never live without you", and false promises "You're the only one I'll ever love" all dressed up as our idealized template for love. Can you see the dark web underlying these expressions? This has really done a number on us. I'd like to provide some alternatives.
We do not belong to another, nor another to us. This concept has damaged people and relationships for centuries. Real Love would say, "I belong to myself, and you to yourself. In our individual wholeness I do not come from a place of lack or seeking fulfillment. I come from a place that knows I am already overflowing with Love and happiness and I choose to share this with you."
Possession is rooted in ego along with attachment. We should always be free to come and go. Real Love would never stifle that freedom. It would say, "I Love you in freedom, with no projections, no expectations, no games or conditions, I Love and accept the free being that you are in the fullest expression of your truth, in your own space and your own time."
Real Love loves ourself first and in that can say, "I am living a rich full life and do not look to you for validation, acceptance, or to fill in any gap I have not already filled. I welcome all that you are for who you are, and anything you share is celebrated in my heart." There are no barriers in this. This is open-ended and creates trust.
Love is inevitably shared with many others throughout our life, be conscious of how that Love is expressed. Change your language, change your Love. Real Love doesn't sound like a movie, it says: I Love you without condition. I see the sacred being that you are. I honor and respect you, as I honor and respect myself. I extend compassion to you as I do to myself. I hear you, I feel you, we are connected. I hold you in my light. In this place of Love, you are free and you are home.
