How is the tone for our collective consciousness influenced and even generated in the majority of Western culture? What is one thing more powerful than conviction, belief, and prejudice, even able to blind us from what we can see right in front of our own eyes? It is of course, the great omnipotent monarchy of the mainstream media. Why are trillions of dollars poured a year into blockbuster movies like "American Sniper", or TV shows like "the Walking Dead", why do news anchors top out payroll in the triple digits? This is all for the purpose of propaganda, distraction, and downright deception. Consider that Hitler was able to convince millions of people to cosign on mass genocide using one tool alone: manipulation of popular consciousness via the media.
The media is the most precise and effective weapon used to date, able to lead entire nations to war, able to create agreement with even the most sinister of initiatives all through careful introduction and management of the information regarding any topic from political, to social, to environmental. The media has the power to alter reality any backwards ways it sees fit, all according to the bidding of its masters.
IS THE TRUTH WE HAVE BEEN TOLD NOTHING MORE THAN A DREAM?
Originally journalism was meant as a medium to relay unbiased public information, reporting on events, and give people an honest perspective so they could make informed decisions. Entertainment in the media was used in the past to reignite a sense of stability and joy during a tumultuous era of war and depression. This medium was however hijacked, and its dark potential capitalized upon due to the awesome practical, intellectual, and spiritual implications of a population whose very thoughts could be controlled. The media has now been wrenched under the dominance of a treacherous and wealthy elite who want nothing more than an uninformed public. Truly now more than ever, knowledge is power.
“The media landscape is dominated by a few massive corporations which have monopolized this significant industry. In the 1980’s there were around 50 big media business’s until a merger which yielded six; six corporations which influence mass consciousness throughout our entire media world. They are CBS, NBC, Walt Disney, Time Warner, Rupert Murdock’s News Corp, and Viacom. Clear Channel also controls over 1,000 radio stations across the United States. This situation leaves us vulnerable to the influence of very few. What relevance does that have to us? This means that the majority of what we think we know is influenced by the interest of the financiers of these mega conglomerates.”
(Excerpt from the book: Universal Hidden Insight, The Connection Between Love, Existence, and Reality.”)
The media sets the tone for any issue it wishes to reveal to the public, it creates the boundaries for discussion as well as the context in which we will discuss it. Media has the power to manipulate perception to create fear, downplay events or issues, fabricate elaborate lies, or divert attention from important topics at key times. The mainstream media not only strongly influences our political perspective, but also social, intellectual, and spiritual consciousness.
How we live, materialism and capitalism is all validated through the media. Points of view which the owners wish to marginalize or erase are made to seem fanatical or ostracized openly. The bottom line is the media shows us what they want us to think, how they want us to live, and what they want us to feel and most often, we oblige. Our only defense to this is to find new sources of information and take everything we see on CNN, NBC, Fox News, or any other channel, with a huge grain of salt. We MUST become critical thinkers or the world will be handed over to the irresponsible few who care the least in the world about the betterment of humankind or the planet.
“The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power; because they control the minds of the masses.” ~Malcolm X
“Our information is accessed primarily from television and news, whose content is sculpted and scripted by the same people much of that news involves. Understand how this works; the world is under near complete financial dominance, and those who hold financial power maintain heavy influence over every other aspect; political, environmental, and social etc. These are the same groups who own the media. How can we ever get unbiased journalism with this kind of one-sided representation? Therefore, our information is incomplete and abbreviated; the most important issues are spun in favor of those wealthy elite or not covered at all. Our opinions are molded to benefit the agenda of the money makers. This information is altered to highlight their interests, rather than ours. This can lead to propaganda becoming status quo, indoctrination of popular consciousness, and partiality on a massive scale. This also allows some quite disturbing and illegal actions to continue to go unreported, unchecked, and un-monitored which is exactly what John F. Kennedy warned the nation of America about. This is a huge public information issue that needs to be addressed.
We must begin to open our eyes to what is truly happening in our country, and in the rest of the world. That requires critical thinking, cross examination, and research beyond the mainstream. The diversion created through the landscape of mainstream media, is put in place to keep the public from connecting the dots. At best our news represents a calculated distraction from the things that really matter.” (Excerpt from: Universal Hidden Insight)
Looking around the world there is a multitude of issues which may seem overwhelming to an individual: political, environmental, and social threats abound. However in our self inflicted powerlessness we have failed to recognize the truth: that our world is in this state due to the collective climate we have emulated through our manipulated thoughts and feelings. What we believe about reality then becomes the reality we act out. What we think becomes what we do and in turn the world is shaped. So the discovery of truth then becomes a moral obligation, as much spiritual as intellectual.
This is all connected, and behind every red curtain thrown in front of us, are the puppet masters controlling it all, of course only with our silent and unknowing permission. We will continue to allow this, if we carry on taking what we see on the news and TV at face value.
"You've been living in a dream world Neo." ~Morpheus
“Look at the “programming” offered to the public on television; “reality” shows, game shows, and crime drama’s. Even the History channel has become a source of mindless reality shows instead of educating the public. All of this contributes to a system of conditioning which influences our consciousness. This is the reality those in power would like us to perceive, and it benefits their positions of power by keeping us from the incriminating truth. The media’s objective is to keep the public pacified, disengaged, and distracted. In fact the very act of watching television has a tranquilizing effect, the flicker of the incoming light waves entrance a watcher from beta waves into alpha, and then theta. This is a very vulnerable wave state, and much more easily influenced by subliminal messaging.
How can any problems in the world be real if blaring from every channel on our television we are watching happy people eating McDonalds, wearing Revlon, and curing erectile dysfunction? Most movies and television shows we see portray a world in which reality is glamorized. Homelessness is made into an anecdote, above average wealth is made to appear the norm, and there is rarely a camera turned onto the sickness and hardships pervading the world. And when it is reported, it is in a way which creates fear and anxiety, even a sense of hopelessness. This has conditioned us to believe that the lives we live are a reflection of the fictional reality we see portrayed.
All around us is suffering, and those that suffer need us to recognize this. All around us we are creating our reality through our perception of it, and this is the key. Our very consciousness is being attacked. It is time to turn off the television, take your eyes off the smart phone and look up.
We are raising a generation in the very bubble the generations before us fought to break free of. We know more about the newest celebrity break up, than we know about very important political and humanitarian issues happening locally, nationally, and globally. We must become our own advocates through education and activism. We will never find out the truth through a special on CNN or NBC. We will have to work for it, we will need to dig. During the civilized centuries, great care was taken to educate the public so that its citizens might lead a well-informed and conscientious life, so that we might understand the importance of skepticism and critique. Yet over the past few decades the direction of this has changed, we are being dumbed down in order to keep us under a certain level of control. Smart enough to do the paperwork, but not to figure out the system.”

We assume so much, that our government would never lie, that TV or a news anchor, or a government official would never lie. That kind of naivety may have had a place at one point in history, a metaphorical time of the Garden of Eden, but now it amounts to plain carelessness. We cannot be uninformed consumers on this planet any longer. Every moment we neglect to see the truth which has been so sloppily covered up; people die, people suffer, and more of the precious and irreplaceable planet which we call home is destroyed.
When we begin to step back and look at other sources of information, do our own research, and even connect with people from across the world, we might begin to see a very different picture of reality and our place in it: one which does not describe our role as passive or inactive, but rather urgently begs for our informed and responsible attention.
Consciousness itself is one of our most sacred tools, it is how we have ever become aware of being aware at all. The suppression of consciousness on a global scale has propagated much, if not all of the misery and destruction we see in the world. The media has been used to justify wars and the killing of millions, used to urge people to believe environmentally devastating practices are safe and even practical, used to create a sense of danger or safety, whichever way the corporate powers that be and international banking gods wish for us to accept. The key is to question under whose authority is the truth given. The key is to question that idyllic authority figure to its very roots. This is why it is so important to break free from the indoctrination of the media, and become a critical and independent thinker! To escape from a mental prison, the matrix of fraud and fantasy, you have to free your mind.
