Love is arguably the highest apex of the human experience. People live for love, die for love. Love is the most universal commonality between us, no matter our differing races, religions, backgrounds, cultures, or belief systems. Love is perhaps the greatest force in the entire universe, binding us to one another, and to the powerful forces that connect us. Love is the answer to most every question. How can we heal this broken world? How can we reverse the diseased lost soul of humankind? How can we live for the right reasons? How can we find peace from within? The answer to each of these comes back to Love.
Is love more than just a utopian concept? Is love something far beyond anything we could hope to measure in any empirical way? Is love simply brainwaves, hormones, chemicals and firing synapses? Or is there something more to love than meets the eye? Lastly, can love, in all her majesty actually put a stop to war, put a stop to the suffering across the world, the starvation, the imbalance, the hostility and violence we see, and in which we each participate in our own way. We will explore this here, in a work meant as a testament to the power of the greatest truth any human that has ever lived has found: Love.
WHAT IS LOVE?
In essence love is our original condition; it is a state of acceptance, receptivity, non-judgment, compassion, understanding, respect, and freedom. Love is recognizing what is within you, is within another. Love is seeing the light in another, as well as yourself. Love is cultivating the ability to choose not to fight, not to destroy or damage, but to understand and create instead. Love is the higher awareness which causes us to heal rather than harm, to build a bridge rather than reinforce the chasms between us.
LOVE IN SCIENCE
Conventional science often falls short in attaining any measurable data which could be extrapolated from much of our human experience. When a phenomenon occurs beyond the scope within which we look to capture it, how can we find the evidence needed to develop a true understanding of the phenomena? There are few empirical narratives which could objectively encapsulate something that has more to do with personal perception, energy and consciousness itself, each which are subjective. When we are only looking at the heart as an object of biological mechanical processes, how could we ever understand the profound expressive, creative and receptive abilities it holds?
Is love simply the result of chemical messengers firing through the brain, sending out signals to the body to make the heart flutter, to make us more receptive only as our evolutionary mechanisms see fit? Is this trans-formative even miraculous emotion simply there to benefit our chances of procreation or merely to activate our instincts when it is time to protect our offspring, our tribe? Or is it possible that love is more? Is it possible love is in fact much more than just a sum of its parts, greater than any mechanical process of the physical body?
The Institute of Noetic Science founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell has been exploring the effects and extents of human consciousness, love, the power of thought and emotion for over the physical for over 40 years. They have been able to show real tangible evidence that what we feel, and what we think does affect the matter surrounding us. One such experiment performed through the Noetic Institute and popularized in the documentary “I Am”, showed when a subject was near a cup of yogurt, the active living cultures in the yogurt responded to feelings of love in a positive way. This is incredible, how could this be? (Yogurt experiment from I Am: http://www.iamthedoc.com/thefilm/)

Another convincing study done by the late Dr. Masuru Emoto showed the effects of words, thoughts, and feelings, such as love or hate, on the molecular structure of water. The results defied conventional theory by proving water molecules would restructure themselves into harmonic geometrical patterns when exposed to the words, thoughts or emotions of love, and degenerate to a ugly blob after exposed to hateful words, thoughts or emotions. Especially when considering how much of our bodies are made up of water, this becomes even more relevant.
Cellular biologist Bruce Lipton's groundbreaking work showed an extraordinary phenomena as well. When he was studying cells, he found that cell cultures would become sick, or heal themselves based on no other factor except the environment they were placed in. There are many types of environments affecting us from the inside out. This environmental factor can be external or internal. A positive loving environment can create harmony, healing and peace: whereas an unhealthy, angry, negative environment can create imbalance and even sickness.
“We are essentially electromagnetic beings composed of tiny particles of energy and information pulsating and spinning at a high rate of speed. At their highest frequency of vibration these particles are farthest apart. At their lower frequencies they come closer together manifesting in the density of the physical body.” http://www.hearttoheartassociates.com/core_energy_human.htm
Humans, like everything in the universe, emit an electromagnetic “sound”. This depends on their state of being, mindset, feelings, and of course other practical factors such as what they have ingested into their bodies. The earth itself has a Schumann resonance which is measurable and rests at about 7.8 Hz. This is the same harmonic frequency humans are able to attain when in a rested, relaxed and meditative state. Love can actually harmonize us with the electromagnetic resonance of our environment.
THE INHERENT METAMORPHOSIS
As you come into a deeper awareness of the embodiment of love, many shifts occur in tandem with this new perception. It is paramount to the understanding of love that we recognize we must treat others how we would want to be treated. This is a key in changing how we go about our lives on a daily basis, since so much of our lives consist of verbal and non-verbal exchanges with others. Whether driving, shopping at the grocery store, taking a walk in the park, or even at the checkout counter we are interacting with people. All of these otherwise meaningless interactions become opportunities to love others in a new way. Each of these moments are chances to make a difference through choosing love.
Look at the wars being fought, over rights to lands, over varying political, cultural, or religious beliefs, people are killing each other simply because they do not understand the truth: we are all the same on the most fundamental levels. The very essence of our human experience is humanity itself; the ability to love, to forgive, and to transform weakness into strength. We may begin to view differences as beautiful and even necessary elements adding to our diversity. The spectrum of our diversity is what creates the rainbow of experiences that help jolt our collective and individual consciousness into a remembrance, and awakening back to love.
When considering the orders being followed by armed men who are told to fight those who are divergent, or when recognizing that there are millions of people starving in the world, when looking for just a moment at the devastation we have allowed corporations masquerading as governments to make upon the earth and all the families of creatures which share it, we might begin to see how love would be the most obligatory tool in changing the social, political, and environmental landscape of our world.
The world has been torn apart, and we have let it be. We have been disconnected from one another, allowed ourselves to hurt others, allowed ourselves to neglect one another and even the earth itself, through a false perception. This false belief is very simple, and we must recognize that it is an illusion; that we are separate from one another. That belief alone has created a virus in the very soul of all we are.
We feel that other people should change in order to conform to our ideology of what is right, based on what we believe is true. We never think to change ourselves, our personal dogmas and discrimination's. Think about how this mentality could create a negative feedback loop: when we disregard our connection to each other, the earth, and all the vital creatures in the web of life, then we will fail to see the true repercussions of our actions. The more we make those irresponsible actions, the more we reinforce our disconnection from the whole. We cannot let ourselves be divided. As we divide ourselves from the earth, from all life upon it, and from one another, we likewise divide ourselves from our own self. There is no part that does not affect the whole. We are all connected.
Love is taking responsibility for the effect we have on the world we are connected to. Love is changing our self from the inside out to become a connected, conscious, responsible participant in the family of humanity.
THE MASTER SHIFT
As you begin to make choices based in love through your daily life, you will begin to see a wave of change sparked in those around you. This is the mirror reflecting back to you the openness you are projecting, as you open yourself, and as you become a receiver and a transmitter of the universal frequency of love. This change we make in ourselves must be more than a mere ideology; it must be an active transformation.
We are the ones who will create peace, you and me, by embodying the actions of love, everyday. We can literally change the world, right now, by refusing to fight, by refusing to be a party to the lies which have caused us to regard different as dangerous, by shifting from the apathetic state which has overlooked the suffering of others for far too long, and by taking accountability for our individual part in the collective state of our shared world. Peace will come when we bring it. Change, real change in this world, will come when we choose love.
